This was hands-down one of my favorite ‘creative’ and collaborative shoots this Spring. I simply had to share this on the blog.
As a self-proclaimed ‘creative’ photographer, I really enjoy certain aspects of planning with photo shoots. I use this term simply to make the distinction that all photographers are different.
I prefer to have an active role in the process, making decisions on styling. I have had the privilege to spend time with several other photographers, many of whom prefer not to worry about the details in such shoots.
I like to come up with outlandish concepts, and organize the details, so that what is in my mind can come to life in photos. Oftentimes, this means bold color, makeup, and overall, contrast.
All of these elements came to life in this shoot, where we explored bold makeup on half of each model’s face.
I teamed up with local makeup artist Shaunda Gonzalez and fellow photographer Jordan Pierce to bring a collaborative spirit to the shoot.
Our models Jennifer, Rachael and Jessie were the faces of this shoot, and the result with Shaunda’s magic was something simultaneously mysterious and mind-blowing.
I definitely want to continue to bring these kinds of visions to life.
